completed his undergraduate education in Zoology at Brigham Young University
in Utah. Following this, he
enrolled at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore,
Maryland in the M.D. / Ph.D. program and will receive both degrees this May. David enjoys medical history writing,
painting, web design, photography, Korean language / literature and scuba
diving. |

Neil
Ellis Neil
completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of California
in Santa Cruz. Following this,
he achieved a MasterÕs Degree in traditional Chinese Medicine from the Five
Branches Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, also in Santa Cruz. He then attended the Hangzhou
University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China for a year. Neil then enrolled in the Eastern
Virginia School of Medicine in Norfolk, Virginia and will receive his medical
degree this May. Neil enjoys the
martial arts, water sports, winter sports, culinary arts and travel. |

Gigi Geiger Gigi received her undergraduate degree in Nursing at
the University of Florida. Following this, she completed post-baccalaureate work in Microbiology
at the University of Florida while working as a nurse in our Surgical
ICU. She then enrolled at the
Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and will receive her degree this
May. Gigi
enjoys softball at all levels (player, coach, mother), rowing, dogs, Peruvian
culture, and spending time with her family. |

Sandra Gonzalez Rodriguez Sandra
completed her undergraduate and medical education at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Colombia, South America. Following work in the Emergency
Department and Inpatient units, she completed some initial training in
Anesthesiology in Bogota, Colombia and then moved to the United States. Sandra enjoys literature, art,
classical music and sports. |

completed his undergraduate degree in Chemistry at Furman University in
Greenville, South Carolina. Following this, he enrolled at the University of South Carolina School
of Medicine in Columbia, SC and will receive his medical degree this
May. Will enjoys church activities,

Brad Brian: Brad received his undergraduate degree in
Electrical Engineering and Business from Utah State University.
Following this, he obtained a Master's Degree in Bioengineering as well as an
MBA from the University of Utah. He then enrolled in the University of
Utah School of Medicine. Brad enjoys many outdoor activities including
biking, horse-riding, camping and hiking. He
also enjoys racquetball, flying remote-controlled airplanes, and spending
time with his family. |

Xiaodong Cheng: Dr. Cheng received his medical degree from Peking Union Medical College in
China. Following this, he obtained a PhD in Pharmacology from the
University of Texas at Houston and is the author of numerous peer-reviewed
publications. Dr. Cheng enjoys volleyball, swimming, traveling,
photography and classical music. |

Ganna Chugay: Ganna received
her medical degree from Kharkov Medical University in the Ukraine.
Following this, she received training in Internal Medicine and worked as a
Staff Physician in Kharkov Regional Hospital in the Ukraine. Some of
you may remember the last name - and indeed, Ganna
is Alex Chugay's sister. Ganna
is interested in swimming, cycling, reading, traveling, cooking
and Alpine skiing. |

Rosemarie Garcia: Rosemarie received her undergraduate degree in Piano Performance from Stetson
University. Following this, she enrolled in Florida State University
College of Medicine. Rosemarie enjoys playing the piano, singing,
biking, running, scuba diving and traveling. |
|
|
Sean Kiley: Sean received his undergraduate and Master's Degree in the Physician's
Assistant program here at the University of Florida. After working as a
P.A. with our Cardiothoracic Surgery Program and teaching in the P.A. program
here, Sean enrolled in the College of Medicine. Sean enjoys spending
time with his family and likes mountain biking and running. |

Kacey Montgomery: Kacey received her undergraduate degree in Microbiology from the University
of Tennessee at Knoxville. Following this, she enrolled at the University
of Florida College of Medicine. A past president of the Anesthesia
Interest Group, Kacey enjoys marathon running, swimming, Triathlons, sailing,
water skiing, and rowing. |

Everett Petersen: Everett received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of
Utah. Following this, he enrolled in the University of Utah School of
Medicine. Everett enjoys hiking, camping and lake fishing with his wife
and 2 boys. He is an accomplished violin player and has performed with
the Temple Square Orchestra in Salt Lake City. |

William "Brit" Smith: Brit received his undergraduate degree in Microbiology and Cell Sciences from
the University of Florida. Following this, he enrolled in the
University of Florida College of Medicine. Brit has been active in
basic research in our Department. He enjoys golf, racquetball, jogging

Nathan Alderson: Nathan completed his undergraduate
degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of South Florida. Following this, he enrolled at the
University of South Florida School of Medicine and received his degree in May, 2006. After completing two years of preliminary surgery training here at the
University of Florida, Nathan joins us to begin his study of Anesthesiology. Nathan enjoys a good game of poker, weight-lifting, tennis, golf and travel. |

Muhammad Aslam: Muhammad
completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of
Illinois. Following this, he
enrolled at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and received his
medical degree in May, 2003. Following this, he completed a
residency in Internal Medicine at the Oregon Health and Science University
and joins us to begin his training in Anesthesiology this July. |

Jessica Clayton: Jessica completed her undergraduate
degree in Human Nutrition at the University of Florida. Following this, she enrolled in the
Saint Georges University School of Medicine and received her medical degree
in May, 2007. After completing a year of preliminary surgical training at the
University of Florida, she joins us for her training in Anesthesiology. Jessica enjoys scrapbooking,
running and reading. |

Michael Cometa: Michael received his undergraduate degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition
from the University of Florida. Following this, he enrolled in Loma
Linda University School of Medicine. Michael enjoys playing and
creating music on the piano and guitar, the sport of disc golf and
golf. |
|
|
Jonathan Day: Jonathan
completed his undergraduate degree here at the University of Florida. Following this, he enrolled at the
Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences at Bethesda, Maryland
and received his medical degree in May, 2005. After completing a
Family Medicine Internship at the Naval Hospital in Jacksonville,
Jonathan was assigned as a Flight Surgeon in Japan. He joins us this July for his training in Anesthesiology. |

Litisha Deal: Litisha received her undergraduate
degree in Biology and Law, Letters, and Society from the University of
Chicago. Following this, she dual-enrolled in the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and the University of
Chicago Economics, Entrepreneurship, and Strategic Management program and
received her MD and MBA degrees. Litisha
enjoys singing and playing piano for her church choir, bass guitar,
traveling, and photography. |

Teresa Dean: Teresa received her undergraduate
degree in Kinesiology and Applied Physiology from the University of
Colorado. Following this, she enrolled in Duke University School of
Medicine. She completed a preliminary year of medicine training. Teresa enjoys Latin dance, coaching
youth sports, running, weight-lifting, renovating
houses, and building furniture. |

Sonia Deshmukh: Sonia received her undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences and Chemistry
from the University of Akron in Ohio. Following this, she enrolled in
the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine and will receive her
medical degree this May. Sonia completed a preliminary medicine year
last year and enjoys running, vocal and lyrical musical composition, beading
and volunteer activities. |

Jonathan Jerman: Jonathan
received his undergraduate degree in English Linguistics from Arizona State
University. Following this, he
enrolled at the University of Utah School of Medicine and received his degree
in May, 2007. Jonathan enjoys mountain biking, bike and car maintenance, fly fishing and skiing. |

Anna Kowalczyk: Anna received her undergraduate degree in Information Technology from the
Technical University of Szczecin in Poland. Following this, she
completed her medical training at the Pomorska Akademia in Medyczna,
Poland. Anna enjoys classical music, tennis, travel, and technology. |
|
|
Colleen Moran: Colleen received her undergraduate
degree in Biochemistry and English at the University of Notre Dame. Following this, she enrolled at the
University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and received her degree in May, 2007. After completing a year of General Surgical Training here at the
University of Florida, Colleen joins us for her training in
Anesthesiology. Colleen enjoys
running, swimming, photography, baking and writing. |

Nathan Spivey: Nathan received his undergarduate degree in Biology from the University of Georgia. Following this, he
enrolled in Ross University in Dominica and received his medical degree in December, 2006. Nathan enjoys all outdoor activities
and is a certified scuba diver. |

Danny Theodore: Danny completed his undergraduate degree in
Microbiology at the University of South Florida. Following this, he enrolled at the University of South
Florida College of Medicine and received his medical degree in May, 2007. Danny enjoys running, surfing, mountain biking, and weight-lifting. |

Katarzyna (Kasia) Walosik: Kasia received her undergraduate degree in
Biochemistry from Stetson University. Following this, she enrolled in
the University of Florida College of Medicine. Following this, she
completed a preliminary medicine year here at the University of Florida. Kasia enjoys marathon running, cycling, swimming, hiking, traveling, and
photography. |

Steven Yannaras: Steven
completed his undergraduate degree in Biology and Psychology at Case Western
Reserve. Following this, he
received a Masters degree in Physiology and Biophysics at Georgetown
University. He then enrolled at
the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and received his degree in May, 2007. Following completion of a preliminary surgical year of training here
at the University of Florida, he joins us to begin his training in
Anesthesiology. Steve enjoys
nature and wildlife, communications innovations, photography, space travel,
running, multiple sports, philosophy and politics. |

Adam Fier Adam completed his undergraduate degree in
Economics and Biology at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. He then entered Nova Southeastern
University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale and received
his osteopathic degree in May, 2006. He enjoys many types of sports, sport fishing, following the economy and stock market,
and automobiles. |

Jorge received his undergraduate degree in
Microbiology from the University of Florida. Following this, he
enrolled at the University of South Florida College of Medicine and received
his degree in May, 2005. He then completed a
preliminary surgical year of training at the Mayo Clinic in
Jacksonville. In July, 2006, he joined our Department as a Research
Associate working with Dr. Morey and began training with us in July
2007. Jorge enjoys football, soccer, basketball and outdoor recreation. |

Jacksonville, Florida. James
enjoys scuba diving, aquariums and reading. |

Brooke Ingram Brooke completed her undergraduate degree in
Microbiology and Cell Science at the University of Florida. Following this, she entered the
University of Florida College of Medicine received her medical degree in May, 2006.
Brooke enjoys dancing – initially ballet, but now many
types. She also enjoys
traveling, working in the garden, movies, plays, music, cooking, and playing
with her dog. |

Matthew Kozlowski Matthew completed his undergraduate degree in

Darian Rice: Darian completed his undergraduate degree in
Biology at Virginia Commonwealth University in 1994 After working as a paramedic, Darian enrolled in the MD / PhD program at the Eastern Virginia Medical School and
received his medical and doctoral degrees in 2002. He completed a
transitional internship at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center and has been
serving in the Navy since that time. |

Miguel Rodriguez: Miguel received his undergraduate degree
in Biology from Florida State University. Following this, he enrolled
in the American University of the Caribbean and received his medical degree
in April, 2006. He is currently completing
preliminary surgical training here at the University of Florida and will join
our Department in July. Miguel enjoys golf, running, traveling, history,
building computers and fixing cars. |

Uhuru Smith, MD Uhuru completed her undergraduate degree in Biology at
the University of Pennsylvania in 1997. Following this, she enrolled at Georgetown University School of
Medicine in Washington, D.C., and received her degree in May,
2006. She completed a
preliminary medical internship at the University of South Florida and began
training in Anesthesiology in July, 2007. After completing six months of
training, she joins us to complete her education. Uhuru enjoys writing, scuba
diving, and performance dance. |

Lihua Zhang, MD Lihua completed her medical training at the Nanjing
Medical University in 1984. Following this, she completed a residency in Internal Medicine /
Critical care and a PhD in the Nutritional Support of Critically Ill
patients, receiving her degree in 1992. After coming to the United States, she completed a preliminary
medicine internship at the University of South Florida in 2007 and began
training in Anesthesiology.
After six months of training, she joins us now to complete her
education. Lihua enjoys interior decoration, gardening and Chinese
cooking. |

Caleb Awoniyi Caleb completed undergraduate education in
Religion and Biology at the Adventist Seminary of West Africa in
Nigeria. Following this, he completed an undergraduate degree program
in biology at Oakwood College in Alabama. Following this, he received
both a Masters and PhD degree in Physiology from Southern Illinois
University. Following his education, he joined the faculty at the
University of Colorado School of Medicine rising to the rank of Associate
Professor with Tenure with numerous publications to his name. He then
entered the University of Colorado School of Medicine and received his
medical degree in May, 2005. He completed a
transitional internship in Des Moines, Iowa. Caleb is interested in sports, mentoring, preaching,
cooking and reading. |

Colin Brown Colin received his
undergraduate degree in Chemistry at the University of South Florida. He then entered the University of Florida College of Medicine and received
his medical degree in May, 2005. Colin is
interested in philosophy, apologetics, end of life issues, running and weight
training and is a skilled writer as well. |
|
|
Carolyn Chow Carolyn received her
undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Biomedical Sciences (Junior Honors
Program) from the University of Florida. She then continued with her
medical education at the University of Florida and received her medical
degree in May, 2005. Carolyn is interested in
swimming, snorkeling, boating, traveling, cooking, baking, sewing, reading
and playing the piano. |

Theresa Cumpstone
(Chief Resident) Theresa received her
undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Florida. She
then moved to the far north and continued her medical education at the
University of Rochester School of Medicine and received her medical degree in May, 2005. Theresa is interested in running
and reading. |
|
|
Jozsef Endredi, MD Jozsef completed his undergraduate education in biology
and physics at the Graduate of Mihaly Tancsics School in Hungary in 1982. Following this, he entered the
University of Pecs Medical School and received his doctoral degree in
1988. After emigrating
to the United States, he completed his internship in General Surgery at the
Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. He then completed his first 1 and ½ years of
Anesthesiology training at the University of South Florida and joins us to
complete his training. Jozsef is interested in photography, folk dance, model
airplanes and railroads. |
|
|
Oksana Fabri Oksana received her medical education at the Lviv State Medical Institute in the Ukraine.
Following this, she completed advanced training in Anesthesiology and
Pediatric Anesthesiology achieving the highest level of certification in this
area. She worked as an attending anesthesiologist at the Lviv Regional Specialized Children's Hospital before
coming to the United States. Oksana is
interested in reading, travel, and international politics. |

J. Christopher Goldstein Chris completed his medical
education with honors at Eberhard-Karls University
in TŸbingen, Germany in November, 2003. Chris and his wife Heidi completed several months of clinical
training in our department, both in the operating room and the SICU. His wife, Heidi, is also a member of our housestaff
(CA-2). Chris is interested in
basketball, soccer, computers and other electronic devices, skiing, mountain
biking, windsurfing and sailing. |

|
|
Allison Haller Allison completed her
undergraduate education in Nutritional Sciences at the University of
Florida. She began her medical education at the University of South
Florida but transferred in her junior year to the University of Florida to be
with her husband who is a Pediatric Endocrinologist. She received her
medical degree in May, 2005, and completed a
pediatric internship here at Shands Hospital. Allison is interested in hiking,
running, traveling, and biking. |
|
|
Martin Harssema Martin received his undergraduate degree in
Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. Following this, he enrolled at the University of Texas
Medical School at Houston and received his medical degree in 2000. He completed a preliminary surgical
internship at Wilford Hall Air Force Medical Center
in 2001 and enrolled in the Aerospace Medicine Primary Course at Brooks Air
Force Base in Texas. He served
as a Flight Surgeon in the Air Force stationed all over the world since that
time and now joins us to continue his medical education. |
|
|
Jesse Heer Jesse completed his
undergraduate degree at Weber State University in Utah and the University of
Utah. Following this, he entered
the Medical College of Wisconsin and received his medical degree in May, 2005. Next, he completed a preliminary surgical year of training and joins
us to continue his medical education.
Jesse enjoys activities with his family, rock climbing, skiing – both snow and water, mountain biking, hunting, and piano playing. |
|
|
Dustin Hegland Dustin completed his
undergraduate education in biology at Vanderbilt University. Following
this, he entered the University of Florida College of Medicine and received
his medical degree in May, 2005. During
medical school, Dustin was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor
Society. Dustin is interested in sports (basketball, tennis, football,
soccer and ultimate frisbee), guitar, and travel. |
|
|
Travis Higdon (Chief Resident) Travis completed his
undergraduate education in biochemistry and psychology (dual major) at the
University of Arizona in Tuscon. He continued
in Tuscon for his medical education and received
his degree in May, 2005. Travis received a
research fellowship twice during medical school for cardiovascular
research. Travis has a passion for auto racing and has had some success
in this arena. He will certainly enjoy the Gator Nationals! |

David Irwin David completed his undergraduate degree in
Biology and Chemistry at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA. Following this, he entered this
Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in
Pomona, California and received his osteopathic degree in May,
2002. After completing a
transitional internship at the University of Pittsburgh and three years of
training in General Surgery at the University of South Florida, he began
training in Anesthesiology at the University of South Florida. After completing 18 months of
training there, he is now joining us to complete his training. David enjoys antique cars,
hunting, fishing and sports. |
|
|
Maria Irwin Maria completed her medical
training at the St. Petersburg State Pediatric-Medical Academy in
Russia. After this, she completed advanced training in Anesthesiology
and Critical Care at the Medical Academy of Postgraduate Studies in St.
Petersburg, receiving the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences. After
residency, she was active both in clinical care (anesthesiology and critical
care) and research at the Russian Institute of Toxicology and Research
Institute of Emergency Medicine in St. Petersburg. Maria joins us to resume
her medical education after completing a surgical internship in Columbus,
Ohio. Maria enjoys music. |

Mark Kilman Mark completed his
undergraduate degree in Microbiology at the University of Florida. Following this, he enrolled at Saint
Georges University Medical School and received his medical degree in April, 2004. After completing preliminary surgical training at both Spartanburg,
South Carolina and here at the University of Florida, Mark joins us to
continue his medical education. Mark enjoys swimming and water polo and is a former member of the U.S.
Water Polo team. |

|
Sarah Laduzenski Sarah completed her
undergraduate education in economics at Holy Cross in Worcester,
Massachusetts. She pursued graduate education in Financial Accounting
at Assumption College and Biochemistry / Immunology at Boston
University. Next, she entered the University of Massachusetts Medical
School and received her medical degree in May, 2005
and completed her PGY-1 year there as well. Sarah enjoys sports
(especially the Red Sox), reading, traveling, softball, tennis, golf, and
deep-sea fishing. |
|
|
Krzysztof Laudanski Krzysztof completed his
medical education at the Akademia Medyczna in Warsaw, Poland. He also completed
graduate studies in biology, psychology, and neuropsychology at Warsaw
University. Since coming to the United States, he has been involved as
a post-doctoral fellow and instructor in research in the Department of
Surgery at the University of Rochester in New York. Author of
numerous publications, he now joins us to continue his medical
education. Krzysztof is interested in European History, paragliding,
hiking, mathematical modelling, and tai-chi. |
|
|
Long Nguyen Long completed his undergraduate education in Microbiology and
Molecular Genetics at the University of California, Los Angeles. Following this, he entered Northwestern University - the Feinberg School of
Medicine in Chicago and received his medical degree in May, 2003. Following completion of a year of training in Emergency Medicine,
he joins us to continue his medical education. Long is interested in
travel, writing, reading, sports, and working out. |
|
|
Vinh Nguyen Vinh completed his undergraduate education in
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at hte University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Following this, he entered
this Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in
Pomona, California and received his osteopathic degree in May, 2004. Currently, he is a research fellow in Molecular Biology at the
University of California in San Francisco and will join us to continue his
medical education after completing an internship year in St. Louis University
Hospital. Vinh is interested in hiking,
camping, volleyball, basketball, football and especially hockey. He
also enjoys music and occasionally plays guitar and piano. |
|
|
Jose Soberon Jose completed his
undergraduate education in Philosophy at the University of Miami. Following this, he entered the
University of Florida College of Medicine and received his medical degree in May, 2005. He
joins us after completing a preliminary surgery year at Shands,
Jacksonville. Jose has been
involved in several medical missions, and is interested in weight lifting,
football, softball, movies and travel. |

|
Minh Thai Minh completed his
undergraduate education in Pre-Pharmacy studies at Virginia Commonwealth
University in Richmond and George Mason University in Fairfax,
Virginia. Following this, he received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from
Howard University College of Pharmacy in Washington. He then enrolled
in medical school at Saba University in the Netherlands Antilles and received
his medical degree in May, 2005. He completed
an internship in New Jersey and now joins us. Minh is interested in sports, traveling, camping, reading,
movies, and fine dining. |
|
|
Patrick Tighe (Chief
Resident) Patrick received his
undergraduate degree in Interdiscplinary Studies in
Basic Biological and Medical Sciences (Junior Honors Program) here at the
University of Florida. He then continued his medical education at UF
and received his medical degree in May, 2005.
He has been active in research receiving both an NIH T35 training grant and
the AOA Research Award on Medical Student Research Day. He has been a
major contributor and organizer of the Anesthesia Interest Group here at UF
and has been responsible for nurturing interest in Anesthesiology in many classmates. Patrick is interested in sailing, bicycling, tennis, ultimate frisbee, cooking and gardening. |
|
|
Tyson Ulmer Tyson completed his dual
major undergraduate degree in Biological and Medical Sciences (Junior Honors
Program) and East Asian Language and Literature (Japanese). As part of
this education, he spent nearly 2 years in Japan at Kansai Gaidai University in Hirakata, Japan. Following
this, he continued his medical education at the University of Florida and
received his medical degree in May, 2005. Tyson is interested in soccer, traveling, Japanese film and Haiku poetry. |

North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following this he received his medical degree from the Wake Forest
University School of Medicine. After completing a preliminary medicine year at the University Health
Systems of Eastern Carolina, he joins us in November to begin his training in
Anesthesiology. Galaxy is
interested in classical music, piano playing, running, hiking, and mountain
biking. |

Baubak (Bob) Mansour Baubak received his
undergraduate degree in Chemistry and Music from Stanford University in
California. Following this, he enrolled in the University of Alabama
School of Medicine and received his medical degree in May, 2002. He then completed a year of training in Internal Medicine at the
Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Since then, he has been a research
fellow at Emory University School of Medicine studying ubiquitination
pathways involved in endocytosis. He joined us in April,
2005 to continue his medical education. |

Ronak (Ron) Patel Ron completed his
undergraduate degree in Biology at Columbus State University in Georgia in
1998. Following this, he entered
Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine and received his
osteopathic degree in 2004. After completing internship in Internal Medicine at the Nassau
University Medical Center in New York, Ron joins us for his residency in
Anesthesiology. Ron is a world
traveler ranging from Alaska to Kenya and is very interested in participating
in medical missions to the third world. |
